Finished project based on sketch+ part of a plant to give the impression of a flower. I edited the photo to highlight the colors of the fruits, and to emphasize the shape of the flower.
It was inspired by the idea of using fruits to create something that I liked, in this case, a flower. The successful part of this work is that despite using a few simple objects it manged to create something new and artistic.

Helpful warm ups for this project: Practicing taking pictures. The following pictures represent the quarentene from my perspective. They were taken based on the rule of Thirds, were the camera is divided in nine rectangles. And they were edited by adjusting brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, reflexes, shades or/and by applying different filters.
I liThese are the warm ups that helped me during the drawing process. The Portrait is inspired by some pictures of my sister and sketchs from Pinterest. I decide to draw the portrait like in a comic style. I decide to put a bit of blue color in the eyes, and a pink color for the lips. You can not notice it. I use a q-tip to blend the colors to made trhe draw a bit more realistic. I feel like the proporsions were pretty succesfull, i liked how the drawing had a evolution with every new part of the face, and when i try to put soem details in it. The place represented is a sunset at a campsite located in my hometown, Los Angeles, Chile. It is important because it is a photo that only brings me good memories. I think the most complicated thing about trying to represent this landscape was to paint the part of the sky and mix the colors.
On the other hand, I think that the successful part would be the trees, because it was the part that i really managed to improve throughout the painting process. At the beginning i didn't know were to start or what to do, but after watch the video of trees landscape i started painting the back sky, it was really hard to get similar colors. I honestly didn't feel very confident about what i was doing, but somehow i managed to obtain my own version of the landscape. Painting is really hard without practice. Composition is the planning of art: the placement or arrangement of elements in an art work, or the selection and placement of design elements according to design principles within the work. Value corresponds to the clarity or darkness of the tones or colors in an artwork. Drawing with pencil Pros: You have more control over what you are drawing, it's easy to fix it using eraser. Contras: Takes a lot of time because you have to draw every detail and try to represent the darker and lighter parts . Drawing with charcoal Pros: It's easier to represent light and dark, easy to eraser. Contras: It gets your hands very dirty, and if you accidentally touch your art you can move the charcoal. It's harder to do the shape of things (like lines). Drawing with pen Pros: It's easy to draw shapes, it doesn't require to double mark things. Contras: you can't erase it, so if you ruin your art you have to look for other way to fix it. The fine pen is the best one if you want to draw. This is the warm-up (what we see) that helped me most in this unit, because it made me realize that I have a long way to go to improve my drawing, that I should go from the simple parts to the detailed parts, and that I need to learn how to draw letters.
Paola Delfín is a muralist and visual artist from Ciudad de México, since childhood she was interested in using pencil and paper to express her ideas. She uses her art to take a wall and give it life, she is passionate about artistic creation and uses that force to be able to tell a story through what her hands do, making it visible to everyone to get involved. “What I paint, I want to make it accessible to everyone, that's why I was interested in urban art, the great walls were perfect for the ideas I want to capture.” As a muralist, she works primarily with spray.
Her art really inspires me because it's not only aesthetic, but also has a strong connection with the environment and the people.
I really admire how she manages to express what she believes through her art. You can see more of her art in: https://www.instagram.com/paola_delfin/ |
